We want to provide the ultimate wakeboard experience, by providing quality instruction, and positive role models, all the while striving to be the example Jesus Christ is for the Church.
Drew McClure and Thomas Buchanan started wakeboarding together their freshman year at Clemson University in South Carolina. They also started a friendship that lead into plenty of late night talks about life, girls, wakeboarding, and God. One night they were having a “porch talk” (which is a deep conversation on the porch) and it hit them both that they were not called to lead normal lives. They were called to live extreme lives that won't make sense to a lot of people. They realized that they had a passion for wakeboarding and a purpose more than just being on the water to “goof off” and skip class to ride. They started throwing out ideas on how these passions could blend together. They began to think about the idea of teaching other people to wakeboard. They lived on the lake, and many college students would come to the dock to hang out and they thought they would just invite them out on the boat. Then randomly, they met Adam Greer, who works with South Town Riders in Charlotte, NC. He told Drew about how South Town was a wakeboarding organization, and held instructional camps throughout the summer. They live as examples of what they believe through the camps and the relationships they made with the kids there. Drew comes back extremely excited, and tells Thomas about his new dream. Thomas received it immediately knowing that starting a wakeboard camp is his dream also. The plan for Addikted Riders began with them. They then told the rest of us what they wanted to start. We were just as pumped as they were(Guy Chapman was in Australia [our own little Addikted joke, when you come to camp ask about Guy]). Even though Jordan Mitchell wasn’t riding a lot at the time he provided the legs to run with the vision, so Jamie Graff, Will Vance, and Guy were all on board, and now we are here watching dreams come true. We have just added two more guys, Eric Dodds and A.J. Nicopoulos. Adding them only gives more confidence to our hope to become the number one provider of wakeboard instruction in the country. We are excited about the industry as well as the sport and we will continue with this as long as the Lord allows us to be used. We are excited about the future and we will continue to pursue this vision as long as He allows us to.
